Mike Doughty is one of my favourite artists; beautiful songs, striking lyrics, melodies that stick in the head for days and he's prolific, so there's more of him to enjoy. Today he stops by The Vinyl Guide and discusses his craft as well as his new LP "The Heart Watches While the Brain Burns" available now. Plus we feature a special track for listeners of The Vinyl Guide!

If you like records, just starting a collection or are an uber-nerd with a house-full of vinyl, this is the podcast for you. Nate Goyer is The Vinyl Guide and discusses all things music and record-related.

Prometheus Risen is a free-flowing, no-holds-barred, in-the-moment encounter based on daredevil instincts, a shared arrangement aesthetic and mutual trust. While all the keyboard parts, Moog bass lines, ambient washes, textures, loops and huge groove playing on the kit might suggest a precisely-crafted project involving multiple layers of overdubbing and tons of post-production work, the entire album was in fact done live in the studio. Together on Prometheus Risen, Chamberlain and Haas present spontaneous composition at its finest.

The Vinyl Guide's "Vinyl Artist Series" episodes showcases new artists who have committed themselves to the vinyl record format. These are totally independent artists who wish to share their music and hopefully encourage listeners to pick up their music on vinyl.

In 1997 Failure had it all; a growing legion of fans, a community of supportive artists and a fantastic creative effort in the album "Fantastic Planet".

Then....they broke up.

Nearly 20 years later they mended fences, personally and creatively, and began the next chapter, releasing the album "The Heart is a Monster" and now touring the US and beyond. Today we talk to Kellii Scott of the band about the arc of the band and their recent return to studio and stage.
